The Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Program was created for students who are already registered nurses with a master’s degree, but would like to be able to learn a new role or a specialty area within nursing. It is specially structured to help meet the needs of working registered nurses through both on campus and online learning, in the same format that is used for the Master’s degree program. This post-master’s certificate program is about 22-32 semester credit hours. It typically includes both clinical and theoretical components and largely depends on the applicant’s background and experience. In some cases additional credits may be required before admission and all applicants must complete the program within 5 years of enrollment. The program provides graduate level academic credits while allowing professional nurses to take their classes on their own schedule. A real emphasis on nursing traits such as integrity, honesty, knowledge, sensitivity, and decision making are observed. This very dynamic curriculum prepares nurses for a new vision and new way of thinking while still performing their already important roles as nurses.
