Online Nursing Degree Programs in LPN to BSN Degree Online
LPN to BSN Degree Online.
Viewed as an almost mandatory qualification in today's nursing careers, is the Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). This program offers the licensed practical nurse the opportunity to attain their BSN degree in as little as four academic semesters. By taking this program on-line an already employed nurse can find the time to advance their career while still working. Most LPN's decide to continue their education in a BSN program in order to achieve a Registered Nurse (RN) certification, allowing for many more doors to open for career advancement. Some of the advantages of completing a BSN degree online include a very convenient schedule, a focus on core concepts that translate well into the professional nursing field, an allowance for previous work experience, and a strong interaction with peers who went through the same process as you.
All the virtual tools you will need to complete your training are made available to students, along with live video chat with peers and professors. If you have already received your Bachelor's in a non-nurse related field of study you may apply for an Accelerated BSN, or Second degree BSN program. Accelerated programs are often intense, fast paced courses, but they can let you earn a BSN in as little as 12 months. These programs do tend to be a bit rigid on what qualifications they require, and a GPA of 3.0 or higher is often required.
A Second Degree program that is not designated as "Accelerated" will tend to be less fast paced, and more like a regular BSN program, with the exception that the student's prior degree is accepted as meeting the general education requirements of the BSN degree program. Whether you have the credentials for an advanced program or not, If you are a practicing LPN and you are interested in advancing your career, you are going to want to consider a BSN if you plan on going further with your career. The growing need for specialized nurses starts at the RN level, and the only way an LPN is going to get there is through a BSN program.
